Need help with my 3.7l mcm 180

He thought it was seized when he was trying to start it in neutral. I'm not exactly sure of the problem he's having

    Then it probably isn't seized

    Mercruiser 4.3 cracked intake manifold

Or snap a bolt off in the head (ask me how I know that one)

It will be hard to turn in gear... Did you try putting it in neutral?

    Mercruiser 4.3 cracked intake manifold

Still have it, though the interior is redone with a different layout and the 4.3 replacing the 3.7

    Mercruiser 4.3 cracked intake manifold

You don't need any sealant for the gaskets

Mercruiser 7.4 from 1999 will not start (starter not turning), sometimes

Naw, no sensors from what I see on that engine that would do it. The yellow/red should energize the slave solenoid. That wire gets 12v when the key is turned to start. The neutral safety is between the ignition switch and slave. You're saying you jumped across the safety switch and it still...

Losing Power - After two hours

I mean, if the rubber is melting somewhat and then solidifying when it cools back down...I don't know if this actually happens, and I can't imagine it would do it for many cycles

    Mercruiser 4.3 cracked intake manifold

Yeah, dunno the reason, but it isn't a standard drain plug, and it's horizontal, and there's a lot of room in there for water to expand. Would be odd for omc to have a TSB and not merc if the manifold and potential issues are the same. Maybe @achris knows of one?

Losing Power - After two hours

So if you're ACTUALLY at 4k rpm and 10 mph and it isn't the prop, coupler is the only other option. Your gauge issue makes me think you might not be there though. At 4k rpm, the engine should sound like it normally does at 4k rpm.

    Mercruiser 4.3 cracked intake manifold

I don't think this is the case. I've drained the block at least 6 times now. Removed the plug maybe 3-4 times, got zero water out. If you pull the t-stat hose, I can't imagine that enough water can accumulate in that large section to crack. Even without pulling the hose that area must be the...

Losing Power - After two hours

Ok, that sound like something is slipping then. An outdrive problem (gearshaft, broken gears) wouldn't recover. Rubber related options are coupler and prop hub. Not sure how long a prop can slip before giving up the ghost altogether. A coupler probably wouldn't last long once it starts to slip...

Losing Power - After two hours

Again, the critical information is are you doing 11 mph at 4200 rpm at that point, or are the rpms increasing, but not back up to 4200 either?

Losing Power - After two hours

Yeah, saw that. "Doesn't seem to have the same power" doesn't answer the question. At 4200 rpm (or 3k, or 3500 or whatever) when acting normally, what is your speed. At those same rpms when acting abnormally, what is your speed. If you're doing 35 mph @4200 normally, but only 20 mph @4200 when...

Need help with my 3.7l mcm 180

Replace/repair the outdrive. I suppose that with the questions you're asking, you should probably tell us why you think it's seized and what you have done to come to that conclusion

Losing Power - After two hours

You need to determine whether it's an engine problem or a drivetrain problem. When you say "didn't have the same power" at 4200 rpm what does that mean? Is your speed actually decreased? As someone mentioned above, a video would probably be helpful

Difference between 4.3 engine 090 block and 090M block

My starter wouldn't work. Metric bolts (m10?) Were slightly bigger than the holes in the starter. Probably could have drilled them out, but decided to swap out with a PMGR starter

    Lower Unit?

Usually once the coupler goes you won't get back to full speed and won't be able to hold rpm without slipping. I didn't get that sense from your post, but hard to tell rereading it.
