    Inaccurate fuel gauge?

Yes, this is the main problem. It's a shallow, below deck tank at the stern. It's pretty much impossible to set it up to read anything less than full until it's less than 3/4, and usually then only when off plane. Guessing the extra stern weight of the new engine isn't helping. Using a regular...

    Inaccurate fuel gauge?

Replaced the sender a few years back. Went through great pains to get it sort of accurate. This year noticing that it's always full. Until it isn't. Realized that it's probably because I cleaned up some connections in the helm, and the gauge is now seeing lower resistance. I don't particularly...

Info on Mercruiser 0A494867 170Hp engine.

Plenty of help on here to get your 3.7 running. What issues are you having? No such thing as a reliable 35 year old boat. The 3.7 is no more or less reliable imo. Now that @Eric 3.7LX Alpha 1 is back, you're in good hands. If only we could find @stonyloam...

170 MC, 1985 Seville, 21 foot Mid Cabin

You may have had some water enter the cylinders through the exhaust and hydrolocked. That's very low...might try some thicker oil, but no magic. Where is the water? Mixed with the oil or in the bilge?

Only 3psi on new electric fuel pump

I am not impressed with Carter at all. I went through 3 pumps last season. First one 9 psi, flooded carb. Second was 2.5 psi. 3rd was 3psi, and is still in there. Runs fine, but the connections are garbage. They're just push on, and I've had 4 occasions where a lead has fallen off and killed the...
