Formula 26 PC - Not seized engine! Seized outdrive?

Because that is literally why that bearing exists. Don't overthink it.

Mercruiser Alpha 1 Gen 1 Project

Not all the A1G1 drives need the rolling torque method when reassembling the bearing pack...If his is an '85 or so he may have the old style assembly.

What is this gel-like substance in my carb? Mercruiser 3.0L Alpha 1

No, e10 has been fine for decades. My '86 says it's fine to use. Old gas will turn into varnish and gel up. Doesn't sound like you had it in there long enough, but that looks like the result.

Tb iv doesn't use base timing mode. You probably have tb v given the year, but 🤷

    no spark Mercruiser 120

Idk what the limit for continuity is on your meter. I wouldn't use it that way. Like I said, 200k sounds high. Swap in a good wire and plug if not a tester into your coil. It sounds like your points are closing and making a connection

    no spark Mercruiser 120

That does sound high. What's your reading at the coil neg with the points closed? Did you try putting a spark plug tester directly on the coil?

Formula 26 PC - Not seized engine! Seized outdrive?

Like Rick said, don't do that Yes, you may have bent some shifting components getting it off. Yes/no Not normal. Should spin in both directions Yes, I blew an outdrive the way during my first season of boating. There's a pressure relief passage in the transom plate connecting it to the...

My mistake,I thought you were bringing the old oil tube over. You already have the correct one on there. Yes, like Scott said bending the tube if possible would be the cleaner solution, but cutting both should be ok as well. Obviously you'd need to scribe some new marks on the bottom of the...

Needing Wiring Assistance After Engine Swap

Not sure what that means. I don't think anyone in this thread advised that, although it will crank if you jump it correctly. You never answered the questions about getting 12v at the white wire when in the start/cranking position. Sounds like you were in the run position, which should have 12v...

Bend what to the side? There's a baffle in the pan preventing anything from reaching the bottom. Merc uses a whole different tube assembly on the newer engines. Although I guess I'm not sure if the new pan started with the vortec heads or earlier

    1989 vs 2008 4.3 differences

At least on mine, the dipstick was shorter than the tube already and didn't need to be cut. The tube extends to the bottom of the oil pan on the marine engine so you can suck out the oil. If you cut the tube you'll need to access the drain plug to change the oil (I don't think a hose through the...

That freakin killed me when I did mine. Couldn't figure out why my bolts were stripping out when I torqued them down. Sometimes. And you shouldn't need to cut the dipstick, just the tube.

Overhauling my 1988 Alpha One Drive Train

I wouldn't, and didn't. Saying that it might have been wired that way for him and it might have worked. At least for a while. I'd sooner take the 20k from a plug wire, how about you? I meant how significant is the voltage compared to the current and duration. Not trying to be argumentative. It...

How significant is that 400v? It doesn't hurt the tach, right? Or the gray wire on the ign amp? I think it's conceivable that he was wired that way without issue.

Overhauling my 1988 Alpha One Drive Train

So thinking about this more, looks like he did have that grn/wht on the coil. So if grounding green through the coil didn't fry anything, it should function properly, right?
