Water in gear oil... (Not a great day)

Shift shaft seal. Though it holds 20psi for ~20 minutes if you wiggle the shaft it sprays out air

Water in gear oil... (Not a great day)

Sadly I'm an alpha 1 upper with an MC-1 lower. Similar but not the same.

Water in gear oil... (Not a great day)

It's not a ton, but it was all through the drain of the lube so that's enough. Was originally planning on doing the impeller and other associated maintenance but that's on hold now. Going to set it up for a pressure test and see where it is leaking from sooner than later. Being this drive is a...

    I/O (Sterndrive) Conversion to Outboards

Yes, just an optical illusion with the shadow!

    I/O (Sterndrive) Conversion to Outboards

Is it just an optical illusion or does the extension have a slight hook to it? And you don't see that side anyway! Looks good

Made some 7 layers for a friend's 40th last week. Got a few more days of chaos coming up then it's all finally done. :)

    Lower unit repair

My father had a few (life saving) claims denied. He's still here and that's about all I care to get into with it. As far as the doel fin, I ran one with the 3.0l in my 19 as it basically would not get on plane without it. A 3.0 in a 19 foot cuddy is about as under powered as it gets and the...

    Early 2000's Rinker

You would be amazed how horribly an owner can wreck something in a short period of time regardless of initial build quality. I agree, it's more important what it's current condition is.

    I/O (Sterndrive) Conversion to Outboards

I use my vacation and personal. The hope is i eventually transition back into the professional group. In which case they buy down sick time at a 1:1 rate above 384. As it sits right now it's actually difficult to use all the time I earn as it is. If I burned all 500 now they wouldn't see me...

    1995 Crownline 202BR Restore

I agree with this. Look closely. One of those coming out would not be a good day.

    I/O (Sterndrive) Conversion to Outboards

I got 3 DAs and 500 hours of sick time at my disposal. Don't tempt me.

Tinkering on the 4.3l this winter...

So I found another 2 MPH testing today. I have on and off had a doel fin on the drive. With the old prop I preferred it as it cleaned up some porpoising you would get under some circumstances. It would shave 1-2 mph up top as well. I tried this outing the new prop (same 21 I have been running...

    Carb tuning

This was my last day off (had off for a number of things, wedding included) and figured I would get this thing tuned once and for all... Long and short: my setup is .092 primary, .089 secondary. 68-57 metering rod and yellow step up spring. If that sounds familar it should... it is a hybrid of...

    Fuel water separator install

Not a bad idea to catch anything that potentially makes it's way into the tank either. I always treated them more as a mild filter than catching much of any water... the big racor in the 330 I think holds less than a quart of water even.

    I/O (Sterndrive) Conversion to Outboards

It wouldn't be as strong as a continuous laminate... and the slight angle of the layup at the overlap is "weaker" as the glass is only strong in it's plane.

    I/O (Sterndrive) Conversion to Outboards

I've seen it reccomended both ways is why I asked. I know FAA is small to large but they're typically bagging if memory serves (and as you said). Honestly I don't know that any of us are stressing the materials enough to have it actually matter all that much... as I think back to my boat with...
