15 hp yamaha

I have a used 15 hp Yamaha, don't know the year. how do i tell from serial no. it starts good runs nice and smooth , until i put it in gear, will not open up, just boggs down? cleaned and checked carb . ?

Good question. I figured out the year of mine using the model number and the Yamaha Web Site.<br /><br />Go to Yamaha.com, then USA, then to Parts Catelog. Then start at the approx year and work from there. <br /><br />I thought mine was a 1994, but turned out to be a 1993--the last letter in my model number seemed to correspond to the year, mine is a 25MLHR and is a 93, the 25MLHS is the 94, and 25MLHT is a 95. Not sure if this exact pattern holds true for other models or not. <br /><br />Good luck<br /><br />Nodima
