Hello All! This is my first visit as well as post and hopefully not my last! I had been looking for a project boat and this one just dropped in my lap for about $300.00. All I know is it is a 1968 16' Starcraft ( I am taking the previous owner's word it is 16 feet). He just replaced the floor, seats, fuel tank, and bilge last year and then the boat has sat in storage. I am attaching a few pictures....does anybody know what model this is? I couldn't find any plate or panel in the boat. The engine cranks but does not catch and I have been told by a local shop it is most likely points/condensor issue.

Thanks in advance!

Okay...so now that I have the registration it is actually a 1968 15 Foot. I am thinking a JetStar but am not sure because the teal color is original I am sure but I have not seen it on any other jet stars. Any thoughts?

The Jet Star is an aluminum model. Looking at the '67 brochure shows a Bahama that's a 15' fiberglass hull like yours.

Here's a link. They might have made it in different colors in '68...we don't have much for that year.

Are you going to get a newer outboard for it or try to get that one fixed up? It may not be easy to get parts for that motor, and it is probably an electric shift model. How many HP is it?

The plan for the engine is to take it to a local shop and see how hard a fix it is going to be. Best case scenario it is able to be repaired with little or at least not a lot of fuss and all is good. Worse case scenario it will be lengthy and the parts hard to find, in that case I will remove this engine and replace it temporarily with something smaller and newer until such time as I am able to fix this one or find another engine of comparable horsepower and keeping with the year and character of the boat.

Hi Pat,
If you haven't already figured it out from other research, your boat is a 15' Bahama. I have a 1969 exactly like it, with the plate still attached. It's a fun little boat and really cruises the lakes with only a 50 horse engine. Mine is basically original except for the engine and controls, so if you are planning to restore and looking for a few pics of things like seats, lights, etc. then let me know. Good luck with it!

Greatwhite - The OP hasn't been back since May 2011. I don't think he will see your input.

I can hear the mods in the other room rattleing the chains and getting a few padlocks off the shelf ;)

I believe it is a bahama. I just recently acquired what I believe to be a 1969. It is printed on the plate near the rear
