Thanks to all who helped me get this old girl moving. She is really purring nicely and runs great.

My question is in regards to the water coming out the back of the motor. When I start the engine, there is maybe a 5 second delay before water starts flowing. Water still flows freely when I shift her into gear. However, when I get a little higher on the throttle, the amount of water is less. My logic would tell me that it should be more, not less.

I replaced the water pump a month ago. Any thoughts?? Is this anything to worry about?

Thanks,

Shane

Hi,

I don't think it is too high. It is a long shaft motor and its on a boat that calls for a long shaft.

It ran great. I ran it for a full 20 minutes at all speeds including WOT. No alarm or any problems.

Shane

I have come to the conclusion that outboards were made for people who like to worry! LOL. I was worried that my Oil Inj. "might" not be working properly, so I disconnected it. I was worried that my thermostats "might" need replaceing, so I replaced them. It seems like every time I take it out it's something different. Maybe it idled a little rough this day or hesitated on take off that day. Next time out it might not do any of those. Go figure.

dakk1,

You may be right about that. I've spent over 2 months getting this motor going and I don't want anything to happen to it :)

When it comes to outboards, it seems like I live crisis to crisis :D

Shane
