1972 johnson 50 hp carb setting

Sorry missed your comments before I posted back, but I still haven't attempted my carb adjustments yet tomorrow hopefully. Really do appreciate all the help thanks for the input everyone will try and get back with something more soon..

Yup.. You're on to something with no spark on top cyl.. (#1)...
Not a guru like the others here, but...

I tried running the bottom coil wire to the top plug with no results
Not entirely sure what you meant there... If you meant you took plug wire off bottom and put it on the top (Swapping plug wires) then that's not going to do anything..
Try swapping the coils. (plug wires and power pack wires.. Physical location too, remove, swap, replace)... If the problem follows the swap and is now on the bottom (#2) cyl, then you have a bad coil..
If no spark remains at top plug, then something else is up...

You're going to want to fix the no spark condition before attempting any carb adjustments...

its the coil. The coils crack and arc against the motor. they are cheap.

I’m having the same problem on mine, same year model!
