Hi Guys, new to the forum but have been able to read up on some things as a visitor, thanks for taking me in.

So I’ve recently purchased a 1972 StarCraft Chieftain 18’ that someone years ago did an outboard conversion hack job to it. So they’ve cut in an outboard opening and patched the IO through hole. They actually did a decent job on that portion…. The splash well on the other hand is less than desirable, also no knee brace installed. So my question is how much of a job is it to replace the transom completely with an outboard transom ( want this boat to look as original as possible, as I will be taking it down to the ribs anyways for complete restoration) . I’m not afraid of the work or the cost, I’m capable of doing all the work as I’ve restored lots of stuff from trucks to snowmobiles tractors you name it I never back down from a challenge. So building the transom as well as a proper splash well actually gets me pretty excited, just wanted so insight before I begin.
thanks in advance
