I was getting some water in my outdrive oil so I pulled everything apart. I didn't really see anything that looked bad upon disassembly. Seals didn't look to be in great condition though. Gears all looked good and the bearings are as well. They aren't brand new but they will certainly do. I went ahead and ordered all new gaskets, o rings, and seals down there. I have a couple questions for when it comes time to reassemble.
- Which way do the seals go? I cannot remember for certain I believe they are positioned so the water side keeps water out while the oil side keeps oil in. That seems logical but I wanted to double check.
- What kind of lube should I assemble this with. Just coat bearings and gears with the outdrive lube or should I use some engine assembly grease?
