Hi,

I have a 1985 Searay Seville with a 170HP Mercury 4-cyl Engine. The engine runs great, but lately, after it warms up and has been running for a while, it won't idle any longer. At one point this weekend, I couldn't get it to run long enough to get it into gear and get it back on the trailer. When I get it home after it has cooled down it runs fine in the driveway. Any thoughts?

There is a possibility that I have moisture in the gas due to it sat for a couple of years and this is the first partial tank full of gas. I will put dry gas in it and fill it up with a new tank of gas, but just wondered if anyone has seen a problem like this? It seems to be related to heating up.

Might want to check and make sure the choke is opening. If it's warmed up and the choke is on, it will stall out.

Check both the choke and idle mixture(when warm). If the mixture is set wrong, and somebody adjusted the choke to compensate(so it would fire right up in the driveway at sale time), then when the choke opens(if it does) the mixture will be wrong.

Do you happen to have a reference for tuning the carb correctly? I'm not a carb guy, but willing to try with good documentation.
