My 65hp Suzuki is not running right I tryed adjusting the carburetors with the screws on the front that say richer. I went all the way in and came out 1 1/2 turns I did not move anything else on the carburetor. It will not idle and when I try to get up speed it just dies, unless I have the motor tilted up then it goes ok then I can put it down and it is fine. It starts good but idles rough the carbs are clean. thanks Rich W.

Re: 1985 Suzuki DT65

I think you have a float that is sticking closed and starving the engine. Tilting the engine may loosen the float and start the fuel flowing again temporarily. Does choking the engine (either with the key in or manually on the carb) help the idle or make it worse? If it will run OK at speed the ignition is probably OK. I would remove the carbs and do a complete rebuild/cleaning. A carb that looks clean is not necessarily clean where it counts (internal orifices). Be advised the Suzuki Mikuni carbs idle adjustment screw meters air not fuel and unscrewing it lets in more air leaning out the idle mixture. While you're at it rebuild the fuel pump diaphragm. You should probably do a compression test to check the cylinders also.
