I bought this motor about 2 weeks ago and just tried starting it for first time at home and it wouldn’t start. When I purchased it, the motor started up and idled good. Now that I have it at home I can’t get it going. The spark plugs have spark in the motor. I have primed it correctly and have pressure in the fuel line bulb as well. I have tried starting it with the throttle open and closed as well as with the emergency safety stop on and off. Nothing seems to work. Can’t even get it to attempt to start when I pull it. The guy I bought it from said he had just done a tune up and added a new water pump.

Any suggestions on what to try or do now?

If you’re sure you have spark at both plugs, it’s likely flooded. Pull spark plugs and pull it over a bunch of times with the plug wires connected to engine ground or remove kill button overboard clip (don’t want stray sparks around fuel vapor for obvious reasons).. that should clear flooded condition. Now put plugs in and connect wires, install kill button clip, shifter to neutral and throttle open as far as it goes (should be at medium idle..neutral safety lever only lets you advance throttle so far in neutral).
Now you’re ready to try it. First attempt, leave fuel line disconnected and pull it over - no choke. If it starts in first pull, it was indeed flooded. If it doesn’t start in several pulls, connect fuel line, prime carb, pull choke lever and try again (throttle should still be advanced to stop).. should start in 3 pulls or so. Report back with good news!

Wish I had one of those outboards. Regular 15's lower unit is overbuilt and heavy. That older style lower unit would reduce the weight down in the 60's instead of the 70's. Just Dreamin' as they seem to be pretty rare.
