hi all, I have agreed on a price for a 97 grady 30 marlin with a pair of 250 EFI SWSII with 390 hours, the boat is dry docked and winterized from last year. the owner is reluctant to but not totally againist a sea trail because of registeration, insurance and cost (which i would be happy to pay some of but) as an alturnitive he will produce reciepts for the yearly maintaince on motors by local grady dealer and we have agreed to run motors with ear muffs for a few minutes....

so having a lot of faith in yamaha, it seems like a good first step to see how they run and sound, if something sounds strange or doesn't look right i would be inclined to have professional look at them or insist on the sea trial.

i'm capable of doing a compression check and wondering are there any other tell tail signs of inpending doom. anything that the 250 efi's are know for having problems with?? possible fuel psi problems, i have already read that is should about 35?

any comment would be greatly appreached, i have heard conflicting options about big outboards have a overall life from 1000 all the way to 2000 hours.

thanks again dave

have a professional check it over, study the maint records and compare the maint against the actual maint scheduke and SEA TRAIL it.
anything will run on a flusher.
just make sure your mechanical survey is done by a competent factory trained tech with large V6 experience.
