Re: 2 stroke crank case sealer?

Locktite 518 is one of the most common sealers used to seal when assembling the two crankcase halves. I have used several things at a race when this has happened including (Devcon if time to cure is posible )or silicone if time is short. They are only temporary solutions. Disassembly and redoing the sealing are the long term way to go.

rodbolt-

Motor is a '91 yamaha 200. There is no gasket between the crank halves. Yamaha says to use the gasket maker (I assume is some really expensive yamaha goop), which to me says rtv, but rtv should not be used in contact with gasoline.

As the Who say's Don' get fooled again. GEL SEAL only. Make sure You lightly sand the two half with 1000 grit paper and brake clean the sufaces. The sufaces must be clean of any oil and old gel seal. No Silly Cone.
