2010 25hp evinrude etec dies out

2010 25Hp Evinrude E tech runs normal until it warms up but not over heating..
Then runs rough and dies out. Starts half hour later until warms up then the same happens. No water in gas. Spark plugs are dark but dry. Doesnt happen all the time just occasionally.

Sounds like you have some electrical stuff getting hot. I can’t help with ETec stuff but don’t lose hope. Other will chime in soon I’m sure

the shut down may be computer controlled to save your engine

if the tank vent is working (try running with the cap off) check all fuel connections for air leaks

with any ETEC you need to access the computer (EMM) fault log using EV Diagnostic sw. to assist in touble shooting.

Thank you for the info I’m going to have to buy the diagnostic tool waiting for the high-pressure fuel pump to come in. If it’s not that then I’ll move on the old ones was froze up. Got it free but still doesn’t work think it’s not pumping hard enough don’t have tools to measure pressure.

try light oil in the pump ...then apply 12volts then reverse alternate the polarity it may loosen up.

you can check EMM lights (LED) to help out see book for possible conditions at KEY ON AT KEY START ENGINE RUNNING >2 seconds

don't go just swapping parts ....expensive method if your are on the wrong trail

the VST may have a " tire valve" (Shrader valve ???) just use a car tire pressure tester. approx 25-30 lbs needed see manual

check the lift pump for proper fuel supply to the VST..holding tank... that feeds the HP pump.

how is the impeller ... old new ??? EMM may be heating up and causing a shut down till cooled... check water circulation .

EMM log dump of fault codes will tell you if the EMM gets hot...and other issues

good luck... my 2005 75hp still runs great and so should you 25 hp
