20hp suzuki 1986 -ish

hi, its me again, working on a buddys motor for him. 1985 or 86 suzuki 20hp...<br /><br />i rebuilt the carb and changed water pump and lower unit lube and thermostat.. question is this.....carb keeps flooding, if anybody has seen these carbs, there is a vent hole on the very top of the carb, and the fuel is "shooting" , literaly, about 4 - 5 inches out of the carb through this hole.... what could i have screwed up for it to do this?<br /><br />anybody ever seen this hsappen?<br /><br />m ikey

not much other than the valve on the float not closing. Check for free movement. The float can be checked for leaks on the stove top. Hold it under in ALMOST boiling water. Any air bubbles leaking out will make the hole in the float very evident.
