I am having an issue with the needle on my oil pressure gauge not dropping back down after the rpms are increased but when i shut the boat off and restart it drops back down. I am picking up a new sensor tomorrow. Can anyone give me any information as to where it is located on my engine.its a 454 mag mpi inboard

Thanks

Ayuh,..... Welcome Aboard,..... On a Chevy V-motor, it's either down low, aft port side, just above the oil filter boss on the block, or just behind the distributor, on the block, at the edge of the intake manifold,.....

I'm thinking you mean "decreased"

Don't see it being your sender, think its the gauge

Yes sorry I meant decreased. You think its the gauge more than the sender? Maybe I should try a gauge first

The gauge is powered when key is ON. The gauge gets its reading from the sender. So gauge needle goes up and hangs, and does not go down at all until power is turned off.

I don't see it being the sender

Could test, find the sender and remove the wire when running. If it drops down then could be the sender, but if it doesn't then no. The gauge sender is a bit larger so should be easy enough to find. As Bondo mentioned it should be down low port side where the filter or remote filter attaches
