Question: If I put a new fuel filter on my 5.0 MPI and prime it by turning the key to start position several times, shouldn't the filter be full of fuel when I remove it? It's not. Little to no fuel appears in the filter. Could this be the key to my stalling problem? If I fill the filter full of fuel by hand and re-install it runs fine, except for the occassional stalling when hot problem. Any thoughts are appreciated.

Re: 5.0 MPI fuel question

It's best to fill the filter by hand before the install.

Using the key a few times is considered extremely hard wear and tear on the pump and is not recommended.

To get it to work in an emergency, you need to cycle it quite a bit to fill the filter and usually you could get some air in the fuel system for a while and that makes the engine stumble or die for a while until it works itself out or in some cases you may need to help it along by installing a fuel pressure gauge and purge the air out.
