Does anyone know how difficult it is to do a "water-pump-repair-kit" job? In the kit I saw some O-rings and an Impeller. What does this job consist of? Any suggestions appreciated. Thank You, John Macko
You need to remove the lower unit. This comes off quite simply by removing all the bolts and comes out as a comlete unit.
The waterpump is on the top of this, with a plastic cover, so you just remove the plastic cover and replace the rubber impeller (located on the drive shaft). Just use the orings with the new ones you have for the cover etc.
You then line up the pipe for the water pump (on the top half of the engine) with the grommet on the pump you just worked on and bolt everything back together.

If you don't have a manual, you can find some good exploded parts pictures on the yamaha section in www.boats.net
