I have read the excellent sticky's on starting and fuel issues, but I am a boat engine newbie and would appreciate some guidance on where to start.
I have a 2004 Bryant 232 with a Volvo 8.1 Gi DP. Been running great for years. Guessing about 150 hours. Only maintenance ever done is regular oil changes, outdrive lube, and winterization.
I have recently started experiencing a problem where at times the boat will not start unless I give it extra gas in neutral. I then need to allow it to idle for a few minute and can eventually return the shifter to neutral. This seems to only happen the first time I start the boat for the day (but not always). I also think I have lost WOT RPM as the boat will no longer hit 60 MPH (only about 52). Could be a speedo issue though, and I don't know WOT RPM off hand. Props are clean. Finally, the engine seems to be running a bit more rough, but this is subjective.
I must need a tuneup after 7 years. Any suggestions for what I should do or ask the shop to do? What are the key components I should have replaced? e.g. plugs, filters, gaskets, etc?
