hi im new to this forum so thanks in advance for and tips and advice and sorry if my lingo is not up to parr. I have a 82 evinrude 75 hp that I have been going through for about the past month trying to get it to run right so far I have rebuilt the carbs , fuel pump all new fuel line new coils and leads. it had good compression on all three cylinders but I continue to have a problem with it running in the water. I can get it to idle with the muffs on land great but as soon as it hits the water it dosnt want to idle and after adjusting with the idle stop screw it will only idle for a minute or two befor bogging out. when I crank it up and try to put it in gear it immediately dies. unless I bring the revs up in neutral first and then shift into gear. I know this is extremely bad for the lower unit and im not doing constantly only when I go to test it at the boat ramp after a change to the motor . once in gear it sound s like it could be missing on one cylinder until im able to get the revs up but once then the motor runs great all throughtout the rpm range until I come back down to and idle or shift into neutral and then it will shortly bog out. could this be that my timing is off? im kinda to my limits with the motor and this is the last thing I know to do besides take it into a shop and spend the big bucks that I don't have right now. has anyone had this problem before ? is this common? and advice and tips would be greatly appreciated

Step one would be to do a cylinder drop test. One at a time, remove plug wires and note what happens. Use an insulated set of pliers, or a thick insulated glove to do so. Or, remove plug wire from non-running motor, ground to block, and restart motor.

Very common for those motors.---They will idle and run on 2 cylinders.---Check compression.---Test for spark that jumps a gap of 7/16" or more on all 3 leads.

Well I tested compression again and I have in between 130 and 140 psi across all three cylinders. Attempted the cylinder drop test but motor bogged down and shut off with removing any of the plug leads. So I don't think it's only running on 2 cylinders I still think it's a timing issue I have checked to see if the spark would jump a 7/16 gap but all the Sparks look strong and blue All the plugs look wet though Is that a sign of somthing?
