88 OMC 4.3 COBRA TRANSOM ISSUES

Good Day, I have lake water entering trough the Gimbal housing, when returning home I had filled the engine sump with water and jack the front of the boat up to find leak and found water leaking out the bottom of Gimbal assemble on the out side. I know there is a gasket or seal but my question is. Can the Gimbal Housing be seal with high grade silicone all the way around it to prevent water leakage?

Most likely your bellows are gone or your transom is rotten. Either way, start investigating

No sillycone (spelled intentionally) will NOT help

Most likely its a rotten transom
