89 5.7 alphla drive question gen1 or 2 which do i have

my drive says alpha one on it my boats an 89 5,7. whats the difference between alpha 1 and alpha 1 gen 2 . i got the drive off the boat so i am not sure i have the right one. the person who sold me the boat got it used
my boat is an 89. with a 5.7 what do you guys think.??

Gen II drives didn't start till 91. So if your drive is an 89, then it's an Alpha I
