I noticed that for some reason the boat shop that replaced my stator and CDI last year disconnected the alarm buzzer. When I hook it back up (the brown wire) it buzzes constantly forever with just the ignition on. What are the steps to troubleshooting this. I've searched and seems to be pretty common but couldn't find actual steps of everything to test.

This engine has 4 sensors.
Overheat, 2 sensors, one on each head.
Fuel restriction, 1 sensor connected to fuel system between VRO pump and tank.
Low oil, sensor in oil tank.
No oil, sensor on VRO pump.

Disconnect these sensors, horn still buzzes, horn is bad.
This horn has logic on back of horn to ID which sensor is causing the horn to buzzes, these horns were always a problem.

I'm curious what shop would just disconnect your buzzer. What if it ran out of oil or something? It just blows up without warning?

I wonder if something is wired incorrectly.

I disconnected the horn and all 4 sensors, then hooked up the horn again and this time it remained silent. With the ignition still on I hooked up Temp, Temp, Oil Level and then VRO. It never made a sound. I turned the ignition on/off several times and unhooked the horn and reconnected it. Normally I would say problem fixed but since it's a vital piece I'd like to make sure works i'm a little concerned.

Not a shop I'll ever go back to. They charged me a fortune to replace the stator I wanted replaced. They came back with several other parts that they assured me were issues including the CDI.

Horn should beep one time when key is turned on, this is a self test for the horn.
If you are not using the VRO, you must unplug the VRO harness and the oil tank harness.

I could be way off base here, but aren't the sensors designed to ground out, causing the buzzer to run? Is it possible there was a bad connection, some insulation worn off a wire, or a corroded connector somewhere? Then when you disconnected/connected the wire, you jostled the wires around, or removed some corrosion somewhere, causing it to function normally again? I agree that you definitely need to make sure all of the sensors are working correction. I am unfamiliar with your personal motor though so I wish I could tell you exactly how to diagnose it.

I do not get a single alarm from the horn. I don't believe I've ever heard it do that even when it was working and telling me I was low on oil.
