On the above mentioned model I want to know if I can install a flush kit and, or a seawater trap/filter if such a thing exists, it has been used only in fresh water lakes, and I do want to fish offshore. I am looking at the Perko valves and want to know why would one add the flush system, where does it go, there are hoses left, right and center.
I am trying to upload pictures but I get error uploading, the photo is from the photo album Thanks in advance guys.

I did the flush thing for years here in Florida until I finally got tired of all the saltwater problems and went for a Monitor Pro freshwater cooling system. Best thing I ever added to the boat.

You can go full system cooling which will protect your block and intake manifold and exhaust manifolds.
Or you can go block-only system cooling (aka half-cooling) which will protect just your block and intake manifold.
I went the full system cooling route. Few extra bucks and get the whole thing covered. The only component that still gets exposed is your risers. Those are not able to be covered in a wet exhaust system.

Add closed cooling. Or add a superflush sc400

300 bucks for a glorified hose connector.
You can go to any home center and build one for less than 50 bucks.
They didn't do any better than just running on muffs. And muffs don't do a great job unless you leave them running for 15 minutes every time. Saltwater is a beast. And not letting it inside at all is the best way to go.

What? You can build it from those little irrigation 4 port things.

I already have flushers wanted to know what else I can do the boat is a 97 motor running excel interior redone, low 50 hours at the most. Just wanna know if there are things I can do to really minimize the damage.
What's the deal with these:

Where would they go and how do they help. Do you flush using engine running like with the regular flushers?

My 2006 engine has been 'flusher run' since new. Water passages are still fine and no problem. IMHO, anything costing more than a dozen dollars is just a waste of money, and making 'add-on' manufacturers rich... Yes, there are a thousand devices out there, that claim to 'reduce the damage done by salt water'. There is only one, a full system fresh water cooling kit. And that costs heaps. Even the cheap 'half systems' are still in the order of a grand. The rest are akin to 'snake oil'....

Unless you want to fit a full fresh water kit, save your money, keep flushing with cheapie flushers and all will be good...

Hey thanks for that Achris, do you use any of the salt-off liquids or just water? My 5.7 has about 3 plug valves, there a picture of one and it's blue. Would opening those do anything to the flushing or just 12 minutes straight water flusher flush would be enough? Thanks again to all

I also have the blue plugs. If you so desire to open them up and drop the water out, yeah, do it... But it'll get old quite quickly... Just flush in the muffs for about 12 minutes + and you're good to go...
