Advice on buying a propeller

Hello people

I'm going to the states on my summer vacation. I am planning on taking a Stanless steel prop with me home to Europe.

I have tried to research a lot on this page about SS-proppeller, but its a jungle with all the avaiable information on this site. So I was unable to find the anwser to the exact question I have.

I'm not so sure what i should buy.....

I have a 16" Quicksilver cabin with a 60 hp 4 stroke Yamaha. It has a standard aluminium Yamaha propeller, 10 3/8" X 12 pitch. And runs with 5800 Rpm full trimmed out.

I have had my eye on a Stiletto Triad II 10 1/2 X 12" pitch or 13" pitch, but am not sure if this is a good choice, or would anyone suggest something else??

I'm also a little confused about Rpm from Aluminium to stainless steel... Copped/ un-copped, progressive etc....

Hi Kim,

The Stiletto's are good props and probably a very safe bet. This manufacturer was just bought out by Yamaha and has supplied them with the original Yamaha steel props for years.

I'd go with a 12 pitch if I were you, certainly not up in pitch, but possibly down 1 inch if you want the RPMs to stay where they are when switching from the std. alu prop.

On this iBoats site they sell two versions of the Triad. You probably want to get the version with the Guardian hub system. This hub you can change yourself if you should need to later on. The version with the pressed in rubber hub will have to be rehubbed by a prop shop if it needs to be replaced.

Thanks for helping out! What would you chose steletto or turbo "hot shot"? Cause they are the same size and turbo has recieved really good feed back here on this site....
