Every year before I plop the boat in the water for the year I usually pick something to upgrade or repair. This year I have contemplated putting the boyesen reeds in the motor. Other than reading the company testimonials I have not read any real world objective opinions on them. Anybody have any opinions? I have used them in my dirt bikes and have had good results, but not in any outboards yet. Motor 1983 75 HP Evinrude E75TRLCTE.

If you go back one page to the thread list and look near the top right, you will see "search this forum". Put in the name boyesen and you will find 137 threads that may be of interest.

Personally I like them and have always found them to help acceleration. However, I have not seen them magically produce an extra 300 rpm unless you were at a high enough rpm that the stock steel reeds start to flutter and are limiting the top rpm. IE -- if you're at 5000 or 5500 or 5800 now, don't expect much of anything on top. The closer you are to 6000 the more improvement is possible, but the 300 they claim might be a stretch.
