I have a 87 bayliner fish and ski and the finish is shot. I have tried the polishing compounds, waxes, buffer and everthing else and came to the conclusion that I have to apply clear coat. How do I go about doing this. Does it need to be sprayed or can I brush it on and then wet sand it? What products work the best? There are also some damaged spots that have to fill. The finish has that silver sparkly stuff in it. Can I get that type of paint or what do I do?

I am open to any jokes about my bayliner.

Re: applying clear coat

I just tried medical mineral oil on the faded Baliner Blue. Looks good and almost no work involved. I read here that baby oil should do the same.

http://www.autobodystore.com/cgi-bin/config.pl?index This is a link to a great painting Q & A with expert advice from the webmaster there. All that waxing will have to be stripped off. Applying clear coat (available in ready to paint cans) really should be done with a sprayer. You have your work cut out for you.

Bob
