our 1998 sunbird came with a mooring cover that until now has worked very well. the question is how do we restore it to a good working condition. i believe the sun/rain/wind etc has really worn it out. in other words, it doesn,t keep the rain out anymore.it,s a 17' boat so the cover is large.i love having the whole topside covered from the sun and rain so short of replacing, what can i do?

Re: boat cover

Sounds like its time. Easier and more effective to replace it.

I've seen many short term repairs, as I used to make deliveries for a tent/camper/awning company.
Most turn out to be disappointing and very short term. Some, like gluing a second layer of canvas on the sleeping wings of a pop up camper, will last for a few years. But these are used for a few weeks a year, and out of strong winds.

Save yourself the agrivation and get a new one.

If you take yours in to a canvas shop they will be able to use it as a pattern and you will get the same custom fit.

You could check places that specialize in serving campers. There is a sealer that is sold for waterproofing tents that you might try.
