Boat drivers seat placement

I have a 1987 starcraft 18ft. Center console. I am totally refurbishing it. I'm ditching the center console and going with pedestal seats. My question is how far back from the front tip of the boat can I put the drivers seat.

You're gonna look funny with two pedestal seats and no dashboard to hold instruments or steering.

I think you should figure out a dash, then worry about seats. IMHO

The console isn't my question. I will build the console after I know where to place the seat. I'm trying to find out if I can be to far forward in placement of the seat. Or how far forward I can go.

The further you go to the stern ,the smoother the ride.

Somewhere around mid point is about as far as I would go. life is not good in forecastle.

Thank you for the input, I appreciate it. That helps. I put aluminum plates in right at half and a little towards the bow. I'll use the ones in the middle, for the front seats.
