Ok so I was given a boat by a friend, he had pulled everything out of the boat to redo all of the flooring. And when I say everything, I mean everything. The engine, final drive, flooring and seats have all been removed. So I have the engine on a pallet, and the stern drive is in 2 pieces on another pallet with the mounting plate that has the power steering on it. This is my first boat and I know absolutely nothing about boats. I do know I need a starter, and the exhaust elbows that come off of the risers and connect to the Y pipe. Also missing various nuts for random things. Been scouring the mercury website looking over the parts catalogs for the engine and have been able to locate almost all of the part numbers needed. The only thing I cannot find is the nuts for the piece of the stern drive with the bolts that go through the holes on the back of the boat in to the mounting plate on the inside. I need the nuts for all of those 8(I believe) bolts.

I put the serial number in on their website and this is what it pulls up.
Mercruiser TB4, W/PS, TWOPCEX, WORO, 4.3L Alpha
4.3L Alpha I Engine (262 CID) Gen II

Serial numbers are as follow
Engine-0F009637
Transom-0D867151
Drive-0D885188

Any and all help is appreciated. Like I said I know nothing about boats so please try to be as detailed as possible and maybe include pictures if possible. It is ok to talk to me as if your trying to describe it to a 10 year old because when it comes to boats that is what I feel like lol. It came with Penske board for the flooring and it is precut so right now it has the support beams glued in and the floor itself is just laying on top. Where should I start? What should I order as far as tools to assist with getting it all back together. I already have an engine lift and basic tools including, drill, saw, wrenches, sockets, etc...

Thanks ahead of time. Ill try to post some pictures later.

as far as flooring, stringers, structural items, you should start a thread in the restoration forum. as far as nuts and bolts, use stainless steel, and most of that can be got by the local ace hardware. the adults only section mentioned by bondo, has a ton of info. including factory manuals. your serial numbers will hook up to a certain engine manual and a certain drive manual. pictures will help us know what you have to work with. in case you don't know, already, this is a BIG project for anyone. If your game you'll get all the help you need on these forums.

Go on you tube and watch friscoboater. I watched about 10 hours of his videos yesterday. Watch the sea ray bids. Start with the video titled...my huge mistake. You will learn a lot!

Re: Boat project

I'm kinda in the same boat so to speak. My father in law gave me a boat 3 days ago. I know NOTHING about boats. But hours of you tube, researching on the internet and these forums have taught me a lot!! I'm extensive experience with cars and engines gives me confidence there and my experience as a body man gives me confidence in tearing it apart and rebuilding what I need to. Just need to learn procedure and lingo for boats and what parts are called. Lol
