Can anyone verify this??

I had this in my inbox this morning, is it for real?

BOYCOTT TARGET STORES

By Richard Forrey of the Vietnam Veterans Association

Recently we asked the local TARGET store to be a proud sponsor of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall during our spring recognition event. We received the following reply from the local TARGET
management:

"Veterans do not meet our area of giving. We only donate to the arts, social action groups, gay &lesbian causes, and education."

So I'm thinking, if the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall and veterans in general do not meet their donation criteria, then something is really wrong at this TARGET store. We were not asking for thousands of dollars, not even hundreds, just
a small sponsorship for a memorial remembrance.

As a follow-up, I e-mailed the TARGET U.S. corporate headquarters and their response was the same. That's their national policy. Then I looked into the company further. They will not allow the Marines to collect for "Toys for Tots" at any of their stores. And during the recent Iraq deployment, they would not allow families of employees who were called up for active duty to continue their insurance coverage while they
were on military service. Then as I dig further, TARGET is a French-owned corporation. Now, I'm thinking again. If TARGET cannot support
American Veterans, then why should my family and I support their stores by spending our hard-earned American dollars, and having their profits sent to France? Without the American Vets, where would France be today? Feel free to pass this along.

Sincerely,

Richard Forrey
Veterans Helping Veterans

I changed his first name from **** to Richard.

Thank God, I've dumped a truckload of coin there for x-mas this year already. :)

The search engine on the Urban Legends site is down, so I can't verify this, but I am inclined to agree with SBN.

(EDIT: SBN POSTED A USABLE LINK WHILE I WAS SEARCHING. GLAD HE IS CORRECT.)

Last year in Columbia, SC I saw Marine/Toys For Tots collecting at the store entrance during several trips to a local Target store. Have not been to Target yet this season.

Well, who knows...

I don't typically believe everything I read either, but I 'heard' that they were French based.

I stopped buying from Target a long time ago.
They aren't that great (IMO) anyway.

WallyWorld beats them for the most part. Quality is about the same. Besides, our local store is a pain in the arse to get in-and-out of, especially this time of the year.

H.

Sorry, Homer, they are based in Minneapolis. There's no French connection in their investors either.

Whether they are a good store or not, I don't care. I just don't like to see falsehoods spread about.

Have a good day, I've enjoyed your posts about Oregon.

Jinx

As a man, I frigg'n hate target.

No home section
No auto section
No Tool Section

I went there one day because we had gift certs, figure, I'll pick up some motor oil, as 2 oil changes were on the agenda for the day.

They don't sell it by the case. Nor do they sell oil filters.

Try to buy Furnace Filters... Nope

The store has nothing usefull to me except for Toilet Paper and Deoderant.

Send me to Home Depot, Autozone, Napa, True Value
Those are my stores. I'll take my Kmart and Walmart!
