charging a deep cycle and starting battery

i am using an automotive charger to charge batteries now on the off season. i am confused.....my battery state on the sticker they are deep cycle/starting battery, it can do both......my automotive charger has a switch to select from conventional battery (which i assume is reffered to staring battery) or deep cycle. now having specified the type of battery, (which i use as deep cycle) do i select conventional or deep cycle on my charger? any help would be great thanks....

Probably doesn't matter at all. What model charger is it?

Probably won't matter.

The deep Cycle setting likely has a lower peak voltage with a slower, lower current, charge rate.
You are not in a hurry to charge so the battery would appreciate the slower charge.

If it is not a smart charger. Don't leave it on for more than an hour or so per month.
And certainly not overnight.

Get a 3 stage smart charger to replace your dinosaur. Your batteries will last longer and pay for itself.

As stated a smart charger is really the way to go today. With so many different types of batteries out there a smart charger feels it's way through the charge and only gives your battery what it needs.

On-board smart charger is the way to go. As soon as you get back from a trip you plug it in and forget it until time to go out again.
