Re: Chrysler 1978/79? 65 hp 2 stroke outboard

This question just recently came up in The Chrysler Crew!

The bore is 3.375, however, the pistons are no longer available.

My reply in the other forum was that the piston itself is the same as the pistons for the other 3.375 bore engines EXCEPT the wrist pin hole is about 1/4 inch higher and there are two ports in the skirt.

If you ask Wiseco if they will sell you a piston without the wristpin hole drilled, you might get lucky. Otherwise----

Wiseco requires a minimum of 20 pistons for special orders so that gets expensive unless you have others who need them.

Ask around The Chrysler Crew for anyone with a junk engine who would be willing to sell you a piston. Because some of these engines had some crappy igniton systems for which parts are not available, you might get lucky and find someone parting one out.

If you get really desperate, I have two pistons in poor condition, with the rings stuck and corrosion on the skirt but at least they are pistons and you might be able to do something with one. I would not sell one because of their condition, but if you pay shipping and you want it, it's yours.

Send me your email in a private message and I will send you a photo of the best one.

By the way, these were some of the best designed engines Chrysler ever made. For a 2 cylinder, they were torquey and powerful. Shame Chrysler stopped making outboard engines before they changed the rest of the line to this design.

that would be fantastic....

can you still get ring kits for the pistons?

i dont mind playing around with cleaning up pistons as long as rings are still available on the market..

my private email address is

i live in australia and would pay what ever it cost to send to me..
would i be right in assuming that the rings are the same for all pistons providing the bore size is the same?

cheers bud wait to hear from you... i think u have just made my day...:)
