I am new to boating and retirement. Bought a used 12 ft aluminium boat and 6 HP Chrysler model 62 HH, serial 16166. After 1 hour out, motor slowed down. Took it to the shop and they said there was no spark and compression 70 on one side and 45 on the other. Said too expensive to fix. Is it worth rebuilding? Can I still get parts for this 1971-78 motor? Reasonably confident I could do it myself, however never worked on boat motors before.
Thanks, Ralph

If you have to pay someone to rebuild it dont bother.Chrysler is an orphan parts are hard to find compared to more common motors.Your motor is probably late 70s early 80s.Its easier to find
Parts for a 56 5.5 Evinrude.
Stick with almost any common brand name with
a good dealer nearby.

Thanks Steelespike for your reply. As I thought, parts may be hard to comeby. I will no doubt have to buy another motor and start again. :(
