Can anyone tell me the year this boat was built? The HIN is 710031024. That is what is on the metal tag on the upper right side of the transom. Just numbers, no letters.

Re: Chrysler HIN identification

I know this is an old forum, but that is not a valid HIN, or at least not anything the US recognizes as a HIN. The Coast Guard has some great articles on what the HIN should read or you can check out some of those random sites like www.boathin.com which will break it down for you as well... I think there is even a link to the CG article on that site...Sorry my reply is 4 years late!

Re: Chrysler HIN identification

Welcome aboard!

I'm thinking that the year is a '71 based on the numbers. HIN's weren't required in the very early 70's (I think '72 they started). Post some photo's of the boat and let's see if fits. What does your registration say?

It is pre 1974 construction and there is probably no way to get an absolute answer unless you can find out who (if anyone) has a record of Chrysler serial numbers.

The requirement for the Hull Identification Number did not start until 1974. You could try this web site dedicated and focused on the Chrysler boats. http://www.chryslercrew.com/ there is also a dedicated Yahoo group.

You could check out the brochures at fiberglassics.com. May be able to find a model that is similar.

Re: Chrysler HIN identification

Thanks for the responses. I found a picture of the boat (Chrysler Charger 154) on the chryslercrew.com site and it appears that this model first came to light in 1971. The '71 and '72 models pictured look like mine, but the windshield was different on the '73's and later. The Ohio Dept. of Watercraft has been giving me a rough way to go with getting this thing properly titled even after being inspected by one of their officers. I really appreciate all the input. This forum and everything on the iboat site are outstanding.
