Is it OK to add carburetor cleaners to the mixed fuel to clean fuel systems and carburetors the way we do with 4 stroke engines? I have had good luck using Seafoam carb cleaner to revive dirty carbureatoers on welders and generators.

Howdy, Hayhook.

Welcome to iboats. :welcome:

Seafoam is a very popular additive to fuel for outboards. It serves more to prevent trouble than to cure them, but many folk swear by it.

I use Seafoam in every tank of gas in my boat!

Berryman's Chem Tool makes numerous products and their original aim was to clean varnish out of carbs when removed for cleaning/overhaul. Some of their products have some real nasties in them so I'd be real careful in your selection. I currently have some fuel cleaner made for adding to your gasoline which works well (If I don't use seafoam) in non marine applications. It clearly states on the can it's intended purpose. I suggest you heed.

I prefer CT over Gunk as gunk seems to leave a greasy residue whereas CT evaporates completely. My choice.
