It also works good to remove bugs from the front of the car.

Never drink the stuff, for the reasons listed above. Remeber Tab? It was caramel colored battery acid.

Yea its the acid. "Soda water" or "pop" aren't the only ones that do these things. Concentrated kool-aid (in the Navy its referred to as "bug juice") will do some incredible things as well. The bug juice has a very high concentration of Vitamin C, which is also known as Ascorbic Acid. That's the stuff that's good for ya'; helps prevent colds, is present naturally in fruits and vegetables, and lauded as an "anti-oxidant" that helps prevent cancer. Ascorbic acid is necessary for human survival. You may have heard the term "scurvy," which comes from the old days of trans-oceanic travel by sail where the people on the ships got very sick from the preserved foods (jerky type stuff, not EDTA and all the other crud) unless they ate lots of ascorbic acid containing foods. These folks learned the hard way that fruits and vegetables high in vitamin C are important. Ascorbic acid/Vitamin C will free frozen bolts, dissolve iron, clean out clogged pipes, polish brass, and many other things.
The stuff in the soda pop ain't as good for you, and the killer is the massive shot of carbohydrates you get from all the refined sugar contained in these drinks (or in the case of "diet" drinks the synthetic sweeteners). Orange juice will do all the above, and you can drink it much more to your health (along with cranberry, grapefruit, and several other fruit juices). Ditch the soda, IMO.

Re: cola or a glass-o-water.??

I have drank from 4 to 8 sodas a day for my entire adult life. My teeth have always been good, I still have my stomach, no bad effects. While in the Army I would take cases of the stuff out on training excercises, and it was all I drank. Never sufferes heat exhaustion or heat stroke while others did fall out. I switched to Diet Dr Pepper about 3 years ago because my weight started going up a bit. That fixed the weight issue, and I haven't looked back. The only time I ever drink water is when I am mountain biking. Other than that, its soda time. I don't smoke, I rarely drink, and I do not do drugs, so I am allowed my soda....

BTW, don't even try that "you need 8 glasses of water a day" junk on me. I have seen the latest reports that state as long as you drink the equivelant of about 8 glasses a day of water, but it is coffee, tea, soda, whatever, it does the same thing. Your body takes the water out of whatever you drink...

Hey bomar76, we caught that show too. Great show," Myth busters". The only thing that it did work on was rust on the car bumper. LOL.

Coke is good, but I can't drink to much of it, and don't drink diet, unless its all that is offered. If you drink alot of it in a short time in feels stickey in the back of your mouth, yuck!

I don't understand how people can drink coke then they are working out or bikeing or doing any phisical activty, it makes your more thursty then you where from the start. I play hockey for my highschool. During and after the game I drink alot of water, nothing hidrates you like water does. People say sport drinks are better, but I like water. When I' m not playing hockey sometimes I'll drink coke, if I'm eating at a resterant I'll drink coke, but rareley at home. I drink milk with meals, its better for you.

Ray,

Ain't too young, or old,to have a nice jug of H2O in the fridge. It tastes better out of a glass jug-cold.

For the rest of you, I live in the desert, if you drink "soft drinks" all day, you will DIE.

Water. How did civilization ever survive without "soft drinks"?
