For those who commute to work, which is everyone who works; how far do you have to travel to get there?
For the past 5 1/2 years, I have travelled 80kms (50 miles) round trip. I travel through 6 different cities(on the highway).
How far and how long does it take you to get to work each day?

Re: Commuting

I haven't commuted for 9 years now, but I responded with my last commute: 100 miles round trip, twice a day. I spent 4 hours a day on the road.

That was the price of living at The Hideout. I could have had an apt. withing walking distance.

Re: Commuting

I travel about 16 miles each way but its a great drive, scenic ocean view, very little traffic and I never leave the island.

During tourist season it might take me a little longer but I live away from the hustle and bustle so I don't mind a bit. :)

160 miles daily round trip from Spotsy to the Pentagon then to Falls Church. Only thing that makes it work is a 4 person carpool and the HOV 3 lanes. Takes 1.5 to 2 hrs depending on traffic and weather.

Re: Commuting

When I went to an office, I was only 4 miles away, took 8 minutes. Now I work from home. But don't feel too bad for me, in the 7 years I worked for my former compnay, I never drove less than 40k for work purposes.

Re: Commuting

If I drive, it is almost 1/4 mile. If I walk, it is about 300 yards across a field and through an elementry school parking lot.
