dude <br /> ya cannot just grab a motor any motor and plane it.<br /> how much weight is in the boat? include the hull weight.<br /> what is the hull transom length? what is the engines shaft length?<br /> its possible to change the engine length but not practicle. the high thrust version has a different gear ratio to provide thrust for moving large hulls at displacement speeds. not for tearing about in a 10ft jon boat.<br /> but if propped correctly it will tear about in the old 10 footer quite nice. are you sure the engine is running properly? test the output with a test wheel and a good tach. there is more to a motor than just hanging it on the transom and going.<br /> good luck and keep posting
