I have a 2001 19' Bayliner Capri Cuddy and I am looking to add a depth finder. I would rather a thru hull so I don't need to put holes in my boat. Any suggestions and any installation tips.

Re: Depth Finder

I bought an inexpensive fish finder, epoxied the transducer to the inside of the hull down in the bilge. Works great, I was surprised how accurate it was reading thru the hull, also got a water temp guage out of the deal.

Re: Depth Finder

I just installed a Humminbird HDR650 on my runabout. I went with the external transom mount transducer, but they sell it both ways. I don't fret about drilling a couple of tiny screw holes on the boat as long as I use sealant. In any case, I got it shipped to the door for less than $85 so that ain't bad. Took about an hour and a half to install, but it was mainly due to me routing the cable through the factory wiring harness conduit. Has shallow/deep alarms and works up to something like 50mph. Three separate trim/bezel colors so you can try to closely match your existing gauges if you care.
