Do Audio Systems Cause Ignition System Failure

Hey folks, I am trying to eliminate the causes of my engine cutting out. The first time I was towed I had no spark at the distributor module. I ran some tests and it appeared to be the coil. So I replaced coil and it seemed to fix the problem. I also replaced plugs at same time. However, I tested the old coil with a multimeter and it still seemed to be in range. I was running a second time and died, started up and was running and then died again.

My questions are as follows:

1. What are the proper voltages coming from the various terminals of the coil?
2. What voltage should be coming from the distributor?
3. Can my amp destroy my coil?

Thanks in advance!

If your audio system draws too much current, you could reduce the voltage to the ign system to the point it would fail. Doubtful, but possible.

Thanks for the reply. When the problem occurred, I turned off the audio and switched to "all" batteries to start. I guess this would eliminate that possibility.

Thanks

Coils could give you different readings hot and cold. Bad when hot, ok when cold.
