Evinrude/Johnson 40HP Bombardier shift rod

I have a Evinrude Bombardier (Tracker) 40 HP that I need to change the impeller. The problem is, I don't know how to disconnect the shift rod. ... I think the Evinrude Bombardier is different from a regular Evenrude/Johnson. Can anyone help me?. ..... THANKS. ...... ted

Remove the starter and use a flex-socket to remove the bolt. Do not change the adjustment length of the shift rod by turning it. It is a critical adjustment so the shifting clutch engagement is correct.
