Exhaust risers

Changing my exhaust manifolds, 3" spacers and risers I'm looking at my parts catalog (https://webapps.brunswick.com/literature/literaturePartsInfo.do) trying to determine which risers I need.
I already have OEM manifolds on the way.

1992 5.7L V8 Mercruiser 350 Mag
0D701668

There's a part number for each side elbow assembly 44354A10 and 4434A9 for port and starboard, but then there's the 44354A 3 that indicates a "7 Degrees". I assume this means that they are slightly angled by 7 degrees to match up with the exhaust elbow. In the process of trying to take the first riser/manifold off to find a part number (damn boot does not want to budge) so far no luck.

Any advice on determining the correct part? Also, is it ok to mix OEM and non-OEM parts? (OEM manifolds with Sierra 3" spacers with something different in the risers, for instance)

BTW, would just like to add that this forum is an amazing wealth of information. Would like to add that I've spent a lot on parts, covers, bimini top and other stuff buying from iboats and I hope the mods here get some $ from the sales iboats makes with all of the support they give newcomers like myself. Thanks.

Re: Exhaust risers

Ayuh,.... Welcome Aboard,.... You can mix, 'n match manufacturers,...
But for the Gaskets, I use Only Mercruisers carbon metallic gaskets, at the manifold/ riser junction,...

Yer risers need to match the angle of what ya got,...

Re: Exhaust risers

Ok, and I realize this is most likely going to be a stupid question, but without having a new one to compare side by side, how am I to tell which angle mine are at? If I ever manage to get mine off I guess the part number will be a dead give away. Thanks.

Ayuh,... Compare the pictures I guess,....

I doubt they'll have a part number on 'em, even when ya get 'em off,...

Use a Hose Pick to relieve/ release the rubber couplings,...

Re: Exhaust risers

Or...use a very small screwdriver and wedge inbetween the rubber boot and pipe to break the seal.

Once you get the riser off set it on a flat level surface and take a angle finder (Deg finder) and find the angle of the down slope.

Re: Exhaust risers

Ok, I managed to get the riser off by pushing the elbow back a bit and prying a screwdriver in the boot, using some WD40 under it to slide it on the exhaust elbow. Determined that the riser is a match for 44354A 3 and went with the BAR risers and spacers/gasket kit.

Re: Exhaust risers

As mentioned in post 2 use only mercruiser brand gaskets. I just made my friend return the paper ones and get the merc parts. Not worth the risk!

Re: Exhaust risers

Does anyone know if the Barr gaskets are as worthy as the Mercruiser ones, or are they the same as the thin green ones people say stay away from?

Re: Exhaust risers

Check out merc. part number 807988A03 for 4" riser 1987 and up. Gasket for this riser is 27-863724 and always use merc. gaskets. This riser is not for log style manifold.
