So here it is you guys have probably answered many questions on shifting problems with the cobra omc,I've replaced the lower shift cable and adjusted many ways but can't seem to get it to go in by itself with out a Little help of me pushing the cable by my hand,was wondering if the esa switch would stop it from doing so,any suggestions would be great if searched and read but nothing makes sense to me and i'm getting of guessing and buying parts for no reason.

Well, first of all, it really helps if you include your model number.
Also, if you do not have one, you need to obtain an OEM (Not Seloc/Clymer) OMC service manual that covers your model.

One thing to remember is that the drive should go into gear without activating the ESA . If it will not, there's something preventing it. Shift cable or shift linkage or internal problems in the drive.
If the drive is out of the water, it should come out of gear without activating the ESA also...... (no torque on the prop from being in the water......the shift dogs can be easily pulled apart when they're NOT under load) Again, if it does there may be binding in the cable or internal shift linkage.
