is this recommended once you hit the 20 hour mark on your new outboard? i have a 2005 150 merc xr6 and right now id say it has close to 50-60 hours on it and i did not have it serviced. we use the boat a lot, so its not just sitting for weeks or months at a time, but i was just wondering if this was a recommendation. i read through the manual numberous times and all it says under maintenace about servicing is that after the first 100 hours you should change the plugs, change all fluids(lower unit oil, power tilt/trim fluid, ect) and lube up everything.

It should be done....or you might wish you had later.

The recommended procedures vary from motor to motor. Most 4 Strokes call for an oil change at 20 hours, maybe this why you are wondering if you need to do something.
