My water pump impeller disintegrated on my 1991 Force 120HP last weekend. Alarm went off as engine stopped. Needless to say the motor was overheated. Motor won't start now. Motor's not locked up but compression has dropped in all cylinders from 120PSI to 70PSI. What do I do next. Replace the head gasket?

Check the piston rings first. Hopefully you've already replaced the impeller.

I put some power steering fluid in the cylinders and let it soak to disolve the crud. Compression up to about 150 now. I fired off and ran but it stalled out. New problem now is the compression is so high the starter won't turn it over. Yes, I also replaced the impeller. Any ideas?
