Suggest calling a few boat mechanics in your area and ask if they will work on Force / Force L-drive systems. If wondering, boat mechanics in my area stopped working of Force engines. They told me its hard to get parts for them. And, they aren't very reliable. Thus, one of the main reasons I removed my broken 1996 Force 120 and replace with 1995 Johnson 115. My new (new to me) Johnson 115 has been working great since the day I did the engine swap. Hope this helps.

Can you simply replace the force systems with something else?? I have a 1992 Bayliner Capri 2070 series. One mechanic told me it couldn't be replaced with anything else.

To replace L-Drive with normal drive OB system would be dramatic work such as transom replacement and lots of stringer (under floor replacements) as well. For existing L-Drive setup, it might be best to fix broken L-Drive and sell it - ASAP (before the L-drive system breaks again).

RUN!!!!! away, fast and far.
They were a poor design and only put out for a few years and no hard parts are made for repairs.
