Is it safe to soak and totally submerge the fuel injectors in a bath of fuel injector cleaner? I am concerned about the wire terminals and injector coil. A better question might be can the injectors be cleaned without sending them to a shop.

Re: fuel injectors cleaning

if you suspect a clogged injector its best to send them out for proffesional cleaning and filter replacement.
you should get a before and after cleaning flow rate at both a 9 second and a 30 second flow for comparison of injector performance .
remember that engine also lubricates by fuel oil mix from the fuel injector.

Re: fuel injectors cleaning

The injector nozzles look clean and the screens are clean, so I don't think they are clogged. I was just going to soak them since they are out. By the way the screen on the pump in the vapor separator did have some debre on it, however I was getting 40 psi on the fuel rail. I am going to reassimble and see if the cleaning of the screen helped. Every thing else looks clean.

sent the injector out to be cleaned. One was down to 39% of its rated flow. The engine is running much smoother now. I have not had a chance to run the boat on the water yet.

I was able to test boat yesterday and it ran great. I had another post that talked about engine the bogging down, the cleaning fixed that. It now runs well over 5000 RPM. Even though the injectors look clean, one was 40% down on its flow rate. Thanks
